Cresswell Crowned Champions

A team from Cresswell, South London based cleaning and facilities management company, smashed the competition to win the overall trophy at a recent Dragon Boat Racing Regatta in London.

Active in its Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability projects, Cresswell is ISO14001:2004 certified and encourages staff to give up valuable time to support fund raising projects and charity events. Previous events have included a 5km run to raise money for Trees for Cities.

Racing head to head in a 30ft Hong Kong style Dragon boat where the drummer beats out a rhythm for the ten paddlers has become a regular event in support of The Anthony Nolan Trust which provides lifesaving donors for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant. The Cresswell Crusaders team of eleven entered for the very first time and after a slow start in the first race, gained momentum finishing with the fastest overall time in heats. They then went on to win the semi-finals and finally beat the Virgin Active team in the final to become champions of the whole event.

Cresswell Office Services, based in Central London, holds a number of prestigious cleaning and building maintenance contracts in both the public and the private sector and celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year, it has also recently rebranded and redesigned its brand new website www.cresswellservices.co.uk.

David McLeod, Managing Director says, "I am delighted that we managed to raise over £1000 for a very worthwhile charity, but was not expecting such a great result. I would like to thank the team members who worked so hard on the night for their dedication."

Rebranding In 15th Year

South London SME, Cresswell Office Services Ltd who this year celebrates its fifteenth year in the cleaning business has relaunched its company branding.

Commencing with a totally new corporate logo with a crescent, Cresswell has also redesigned its website www.cresswellservices.co.uk to include information on services and regular news updates. With a new look for its company stationery, the new branding will appear on its vans and run throughout all its sales and marketing communications going forward.

The company which specialises in cleaning, facilities and building maintenance, currently holds a number of prestigious contracts in both the public and private sector and this year marks a new chapter for the company.

David McLeod, Managing Director says, "We are delighted with the new logo and it seems fitting to rebrand in this our fifteenth anniversary. Innovation and moving forward is key in our industry and I am confident our new look will be welcomed by our current and future customers alongside our increased marketing activity for this year."

Cresswell Office Services is located in Surrey Quays and was founded in 1995, by David McLeod the current Managing Director. The company currently has both an Industrial and Commercial division and its clients come from a variety of businesses and backgrounds. Cresswell are dedicated to being flexible in its approach as well as being highly reactive and responsive to its clients' needs, whilst providing an environment which staff feel happy to work in. They have previously been finalists in the prestigious Kimberly-Clark Golden Service Awards.

Reinventing The Car Park

Cresswell Triumph At 'Parking Oscars'
Cresswell Cleaning & Facilities Management has recently been recognised for its work for Woking Borough Council at the national British Parking Awards. The Council was declared the outright winner in the category of ‘Reinventing The Car Park – The Refurbishment Award’ for its Shoppers and Brewery Road car parks. Cresswell has held the contract since 2007 for the whole of the Council's car park cleaning in the Borough of Woking which constitutes five multi-storey car parks and public areas and eleven surface car parks.

Known as the ‘Parking Oscars’, the winners were revealed to an audience of over 500 people by leading impressionist Jon Culshaw at the prestigious event in London. Woking Borough Council was recognised for its achievement in cleaning, refurbishing and upgrading the Woking town centre car parks in one of 16 categories.

The British Parking Awards were launched in 2002 by Parking Review, supported by the British Parking Association (BPA) and is firmly established as the leading showcase for innovation, excellence and achievement in the UK parking sector. Cllr John Kingsbury, Leader of the Executive at Woking Borough Council, says: “Congratulations to everyone concerned on this excellent news! It’s a tremendous achievement that Woking's efforts have been recognised by this prestigious award!”

Cresswell has been continuing to expand and is now adding fresh services to its ever growing portfolio. It can now boast a range of brand new services to assist in providing the perfect one stop solution for any Facilities Management Team.

Interior plant displays
Cresswell offers a range of displays that are planted with lush, high quality plants chosen from a range of interesting specimens to suit the environmental conditions of any office. Various types of containers are available, such as round brushed aluminium and square tapered polished fibreglass. All containers are very high quality, and which one is chosen will depend on the décor within the offices and/or the personal choice of the client. The square tapered units are available in virtually any preferred colour but there are many other containers and styles available to choose from. Cresswell will visit client sites and conduct a review of the space and advise on the best solution, particularly as some plants cannot be used in certain areas due to light or space restrictions.

Asbestos can kill!
Each year 4,000 people die of work-related asbestos diseases and this number is still rising. Buildings (domestic or commercial) that were built or refurbished before the year 2000 may well contain asbestos.

It is not always necessary to remove asbestos but it is advisable to log and identify its presence in a building. Cresswell prides itself on its fast response to customer requirements, safe work practices and professionalism and now offers a service providing onsite attendance and under sealed conditions, taking samples from areas which may be contaminated and sending them to specialists for analysis. Within 24 to 48 hours the results are back and the company can then offer a range of solutions from containment and tagging to removal and disposal, ensuring that personnel are continuously protected in the work environment.

In a commercial building, the matting solution must take up the essential challenge to bring optimum satisfaction to end-users and their visitors as it is the first thing a customer or prospect sees when entering. No two entrances are the same and therefore do not require the same solution.

An entrance could have a prevailing wind, a canopy or a different volume of footfall, all of which make a difference to the type of matting required and Cresswell now offer all types of matting solutions ranging from:

Standard Loose Lay Serviced Matting
Proven to be tough, durable and effective, this product can either be rented or purchased. It is available in standard and/or special sizes, and can be serviced at a frequency specified by the client and regularly exchanged for freshly laundered mats.

Loose Lay Logo Matting
This high definition mat can be printed either with a company's logo or message. With a huge colour and shade choice available we can match a company's livery and the matting can be purchased with or without a regular service option as offered with the Standard Matting.

External Scraper Matting
This type of matting is designed to remove moisture from people's feet before they enter a building. It is available in a range of standard sizes and easily maintained. There are two types of external scraper matting; 'Loose Lay' and 'Fixed'. Both are easily maintained, but 'Fixed' is most suited to heavy foot traffic areas, therefore giving it longevity and durability.

Internal Fixed Entrance Matting
This matting comes in two types, a Grid System or a Tile System. Cresswell is independent and can offer fixed matting systems from a range of leading manufacturers in order to satisfy specific requirements.

Other Matting
Cresswell can also offer Wet Area Matting for use in a leisure centre's or company's shower facilities. Industrial wet area matting is also available for wash up areas and the like within a commercial kitchen. Anti-fatigue matting can be supplied for static work stations where personnel are on their feet for prolonged periods and need to minimise the stress on their legs and feet. Charity support

As a company certified to ISO 14001:2004 and active in its Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability projects, Managing Director David McLeod, as a former runner some 20 years ago, took part in a popular 5km run in Battersea Park last September to raise money for Trees for Cities. This worthwhile cause raised funds to create a beautiful wildlife garden for children at a South London school, planted street trees for the people of East London to enjoy and planted trees in London woodlands to encourage wildlife into the city. After a training regime he found harder than expected, David finished the run with all the family there to cheer him on.
